Carl Sandburg lived in Western Carolina for over twenty years, and those years were his most productive as a writer. One of the  recognized inspirations for his work was the guitar playing of the Spanish great, Andrés Segovia.

From 6:30-7:30 p.m. Jan. 15, come hear Dr. Jhon Akers interpret the music Sandburg loved and narrate Sandburg’s lifelong love of the Spanish guitar. The cost is $5. Akers has twice been the featured performer at the Sandburg Days festival in Galesburg, Ill., and is the only classical musician to participate in the annual Carl Sandburg Folk Festival in Flat Rock.

This Asheville music event will be held at Asheville Culture Project, 257 Short Coxe Ave.
