If you are looking for a terrific multi-cultural arts festival near Asheville then don’t forget about the Lake Eden Arts Festival (LEAF) at Camp Rockmont in Black Mountain, NC May 12 through the 15th. LEAF is one of the best festivals of its kind, no question about it, and is well worth the trip for the entire family.

This year is the 32nd LEAF festival and it features “Africa’s Premier Diva” Angelique Kidjo. Another huge highlight is veteran bluegrass and country music performer (and Grammy winner) Ricky Skaggs.

A weekend at LEAF is the equivalent of going on a year-long multi-cultural musical and dance odyssey. LEAF is a strong family and friend tradition that “recharges our batteries” twice a year (there is also a fall festival in October). It is a great value and fun for the entire family, the kind of special arts treat you get in the Asheville mountain regions.

To quote James Fischer of Asheville:

“LEAF is a vital and vibrant contributor to our local community through the festivals and LSS, and on a larger scale through LI. For me, though, LEAF is an essential part of my own life, for me, my family and friends. LEAF is a bi-annual oasis that makes our lives richer in ever-changing ways!”

For ticket information go to theLEAF.org. LEAF is advance tickets only but kids under 10 get in free!

LEAF’s music is just one part of the amazing Western, NC performing arts scene you find in the Asheville area. Enjoy!
